Description: Within the context of a client and family-centred care model, and in accordance with the Registered Nurses' Association of British Columbia (RNABC) standards of professional practice, Code of Ethics, and the established mission, vision, values, objectives and policies of Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Centre, provides nursing care to assigned clients both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care givers. Demonstrates expertise and leadership in nursing practice. Maintains and advances clinical competence. Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.
Qualifications: Current practicing registration with the Registered Nurses' Association of British Columbia (RNABC). Completion of a recognized advanced nursing speciality program in operating room nursing, or two years' recent, related experience in a tertiary level operating room environment.Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family centered model of care.Broad knowledge of RNABC's standards for nursing practice.Extensive knowledge of perioperative nursing techniques and standards, and instrumentation and equipment set ups, for a wide variety of surgical procedures.Considerable knowledge of autonomy and physiology.Considerable knowledge of pharmacology, and client physiological reactions, related to anesthesia.Demonstrated ability in nursing practice in an operating room environment of a tertiary level teaching hospital.
